Downtown Houston: United Airlines HQ to 609 Main
HOUSTON – Chicago-based United Airlines Inc. will move its Houston-area headquarters to Hines’ 609 Main building that is under construction in downtown Houston.
United Airlines confirmed the move to the Houston Business Journal February 25.
The airline carrier signed a lease for 225,000 sf.
"By selecting 609 Main for our new Houston headquarters offices we are confirming our commitment to the Houston community and to our employees. The new office space will provide an energized and positive work environment,” said Mary Clark, a spokeswoman for United.
609 Main is a major project for the downtown Houston skyline. The 48-story, 1,050,000-sf spec office space nabbed its first trophy tenant in December, Kirkland & Ellis, which announced it will move into a 62,000-sf space on the top two and a half floors of the building.
The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2017.
