DALLAS-FORT WORTH – Online retailing giant Amazon is poised to significantly expand its footprint in North Texas as it is looking at two huge warehouses that could add more than 1 million sf of distribution space.

Amazon has been on an expansion kick in North Texas for the last few years.
In 2013, it leased two warehouses with more than 2 million sf of distribution space in Coppell and in Haslet north of Fort Worth. And last year, Amazon rented a 500,000-sf warehouse being built by Trammell Crow Co. on I-20 in southern Dallas.
Now, leasing agents say that Amazon has set its sights on a 1 million-sf warehouse—the largest nonterminal building constructed at the D/FW Airport when it opened last year—built by developer Pat Perot and Hillwood Investments.
If the Amazon deal makes, it would fill one of the largest blocks of warehouse space available in the DFW area.
Last year, the DFW area had the second-highest warehouse space demand in the country with 16.5 million sf of net leasing.
