The latest index was released today.

That increase was among the five largest gains in the country and almost twice the national increase of 5.4 percent.

December’s year-over-year price increase was the highest for the area in almost two years in the Case-Shiller report. Local prices are now at an all-time high and almost 24 percent ahead of where they were in summer 2007, according to the report.

The biggest December annual home price increases were in Portland (11.4 percent) and San Francisco (10.3 percent).

Nationwide home prices are now back to where they were in 2007 before the worst of the housing market bust.
