McKINNEY - Former Dallas Cowboy offensive lineman Robert Shaw's Columbus Realty Partners Ltd. and the City of McKinney have signed a development agreement to construct a new mixed-use development on the site of the former Collin County Courthouse.

The development agreement will bring 320 apartments, a parking garage, 45,000 sf of office space and 20,000 sf of retail space to the nince-acre site at the southwest corner of Davis St. and McDonald St. (SH 5).

The Dallas-based developer has been working with city staff to develop a conceptual plan on the site that brings a compact urban and pedestrian-oriented design to this part of McKinney.

This spring, the development firm will hold a public presentation of design concepts. Construction is expected to start no later than January 2017.
