Chill out in 300K-SF refrigerated cargo Bayport facility
HOUSTON – The Port of Houston Authority will build a new refrigerated cargo facility at its Bayport container terminal.
AGRO Merchants Group, a global cold supply chain company, will build the 300,000-sf temperature-controlled storage facility.
It will allow for the import and export of fresh and frozen meat, fish, poultry, fruit and vegetables through Port Authority docks.
Houston is closer than many U.S. ports to the Central and South American countries that provide much of our produce.
The building will take up more than 12 acres of land, the Port Authority said, with more space to grow.
The Port Authority expects to open the facility, with separate frozen and chilled storage areas by the summer of 2017.
