HOUSTON - The new Saks Fifth Ave. building—a highlight of the Galleria’s massive transformation—is expected to open April 28.
The new store will employ 40 more people than the existing one.
Additionally, the store will be 20,000 sf larger, clocking in at 210,000 sf. According to the reports, the larger store comes with a slew of new ultra-high-end features, including:
• a cocktail bar
• an expanded women’s department featuring 22 designer boutiques
• an expanded shoe salon and the first Christian Louboutin boutique outside of the Saks Fifth Ave. flagship store
• a 20,000-sf cosmetics department with 15 specialized brands, including one of only five Gucci beauty spots in North America. The beauty and fragrance department will be Saks’ largest outside of New York.
• The Fifth Ave. Club, which offers personal shoppers and private dressing rooms
The store also will offer valet parking, underground parking and a delivery service called the Personal Service Experience.
51fifteen Restaurant and Lounge also will move with Saks. The restaurant, which is owned and operated by Landmark Houston Hospitality Group, will be a third bigger than the old location at 8,000 sf and will have two private dining rooms and a private lounge option.
With the new layout, guests can enter and exit the restaurant at any time without having to enter the store. This allows for the restaurant to host later events on a regular basis, which means the restaurant can host a nighttime crowd.
Meanwhile, the existing Saks building will turn into the mall's new luxury wing. Construction will begin on this space after Saks moves into its new building.
The Galleria’s owner is spending $250 million on the mall’s massive transformation.
