DENISON, LAKE TEXOMA AREA – Whether you’re buying or selling a house the process can be long and scary.
But 2015 was definitely worth it for sellers as average sales prices in both Texas and Oklahoma hit record highs.
"We had to put in an offer really quickly and within two to three weeks we got the results we wanted." Despite the high prices first time homebuyer Taylor Evangelist says after a lot of thinking he and his family decided to go for it.
Knowing other families were likely eying the same property they did their homework and acted quickly.
"Do a lot of research and find a good relator that knows the market that really helped us a lot."
According to the Texas Association of Realtors, record high prices are expected to continue through most of 2016 followed by a drop near the end of the year. But a growing population in Texoma may keep demand high.
"High Demand by little amount of supply so if you’re looking to sell your home value will increase."
The forecast is much the same across the Red River as the Oklahoma Real Estate commission expects the boom to continue in 2016 then cool off.
