SUGAR LAND – Houston’s first Flix Brewhouse—which combines a movie theater with a dine-in microbrewery—is planned for the Sugar Land area.

Flix Entertainment LLC is waiting on final plan approval to move forward with the Sugar Land location, said Matt Silvers, senior vice president of real estate and brand development.

He expects the company could get approval sometime around late winter or early spring of this year, and the project would open approximately 11 months after breaking ground.

The Sugar Land location is expected to be approximately 38,000 sf and have eight screens totaling approximately 950 to 1,000 seats.

In addition to brewing its own beer, Flix Brewhouse delivers food and drinks during movies and has a bar for both moviegoers and patrons who aren’t seeing a movie. The venue restricts showtimes by ages.

The Sugar Land Flix Brewhouse will be in The Promenade at Telfair, the entertainment portion of 112-acre mixed-use development The Crossing at Telfair.

Rubicon Realty Group is developing and leasing the project at the corner of Hwy 90 and SH 6.

A 208-room Hilton Garden Inn, an HEB and several restaurants have already opened in The Crossing. Two other hotels—a 90-room Hampton Inn and a 217-room Embassy Suites—are set to break ground later this year, and approximately 100,000 sf of office space could be added.

The Promenade is expected to open in 2017, and Rubicon will choose a general contractor for that portion soon.
