International Leadership of Texas campus to North Richland Hills
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS – The International Leadership of Texas charter school group will open a campus in North Richland Hills this August, adding to the campuses it already has in Arlington, far north Fort Worth and other parts of Texas.
International Leadership plans to build a 65,560-sf building on 12.8 acres at the northwest corner of Rufe Snow and Glenview Dr.
The site has been vacant since a Food Lion grocery store closed several years ago. The project is expected to cost between $23 million and $25 million.
The International Leadership offers English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese to students at all grade levels. The school also focuses on community service, physical fitness, international relations and college readiness, according to its website. To fit in everything, the school day runs about 45 minutes longer than at area public schools.
As a charter school, tuition will be free for the expected 1,416 students. The state provides the funding.
What will be called International Leadership of Texas North Richland Hills K-8 will most likely draw students from the Birdville school district because of its location inside the district. But nearby Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Fort Worth and Keller school districts could be affected as well.
Construction is expected to begin in early February.
