Dallas-Fort Worth takes bronze in U.S. job gainsDallas-Fort Worth takes bronze in U.S. job gainshttps://www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=119992016-02-04T06:00:00Z2016-02-04T16:00:00Z

DALLAS-FORT WORTH - New, expanding and relocating businesses added 98,900 new jobs last year, scoring DFW a third place win in the 2015 race to create the most employment.

That was behind first place New York City with 156,400 new jobs and Los Angeles with an employment gain of 135,100 in 2015, according to the latest numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

While still one of the best showing in the country, DFW’s 2015 job increase was down almost 30 percent from the record 140,000 employment growth in 2014.

DFW was the top job growth market in the country in 2014.

“The 2015 numbers for Dallas jobs were really pretty good,” said Dr. James Gaines, chief economist with the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University. “The 140,000 jobs in 2014 were out of sight and no doubt really unsustainable."

Even with last year’s decline in job creations, North Texas still had the second strongest employment growth in the last decade.
