KATY – A nearly 500,000-sf retail development in west Houston is nearing completion and has signed on a handful of national anchor tenants.

The Shoppes at ParkWest, which will sit on roughly 30 to 40 acres in a master-planned community in Katy, will deliver the first phase of retail shops in summer 2016. The second phase of development should deliver and be operational in October and those two phases total roughly 250,000 sf.

The first phase, which broke ground in June, will be anchored by tenants such as Bed, Bath and Beyond; BuyBuy Baby; DSW; Kirkland’s; PetSmart and DXL. Golf Galaxy, Field & Stream and Dick’s Sporting Goods will anchor the second phase. The center is located at I-10 and Katy Fort Bend Rd.

Medistar Corp. and the Retail Connection’s Houston office have partnered on the development, with Medistar serving as the equity and limited partner, and the Retail Connection serving as the general partner.

The two entities will develop the Shoppes at ParkWest. Retail Connection will represent all leasing tenants and manage the assets.

The Shoppes at ParkWest is part of a broader, 150-acre community, ParkWest Business Park, that Medistar is developing.

The third and final phase of the retail development, which contains around 150,000 sf of space, should break ground around mid- to late-2016, with delivery happening in 2017.

Roughly 75,000 sf of phase three has been conditionally claimed via letters of intent.
