KATY - Katy's new $45 million water park is on scheduled to open in time for Houston's blistering summer heat.
Typhoon Texas Waterpark, located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd. adjacent to the Katy Mills Mall, will officially open May 28 through Labor Day.
The five major slide-towers on the 25-acre park are completed and 1.3 miles of slides are currently being installed.
Two other signature slides, Lone Star Racers and The Duelin’ Daltons, have been installed and land is being prepared for a children's play area.
Work is also underway on the 25,000-sf wave pool and a winding lazy river.
KDW Ltd. is developing the project and is partnered with Terry Hlavinka of West Bernard, Hlavinka Equipment Co. and Ray DeLaughter, CFO of VantageCFO. The project was financed by Texas Capital Bank.
