WICHITA FALLS – The Wichita Falls housing market finished 2015 with a surge, the end-of-year report from the Wichita Falls Association of Realtors showed. (The story is on Podcast 287.)
Stats for the Wichita Falls housing market include:
- In December, 140 existing homes were sold, well over a 25-percent increase from December 2014.
- Last month’s homes sales helped to finish the year with a bang, as a total of 1,637 homes were sold in 2015, the most since 2008 and the housing market crisis.
- Sales volume for December totaled more than $16 million, up from $13.8 million the previous December.
- Total sales volume for 2015 was up as well to $195.4 million, an increase of nearly $21 million from the 2014 total.
- The average price of a home for the year was $119,424, a decrease of nearly 4 percent, explained in part by the decrease in upper-end homes sold.
- As of November, the average month’s inventory for homes was 5.5 months, according to the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, the lowest such figure since March 2007.
