Grapevine next stop for Mercedes-Benz
GRAPEVINE – Mercedes-Benz USA is developing a regional parts distribution warehouse and a Learning & Performance Center along Lakeside Pkwy.
The Learning & Performance Center, which is relocating from Houston, will accommodate the ongoing training of Mercedes-Benz dealership technicians from throughout the southwestern United States. The 59,000-sf facility will have 50 full-time employees and be able to train 150 to 200 technicians per week.
The parts distribution center — one of six of its kind in the country — will total about 254,000 sf and parcel out parts throughout the region.
Both facilities will sit on more than 31 acres along Lakeside Pkwy. and Enterprise Rd., which is the northernmost part of a 185-acre tract once owned by former Texas Rangers player Rafael Palmeiro. The city purchased the acreage for $29.5 million.
Atlanta-based Seefried Industrial Properties Inc., in partnership with a long-term European capital partner, has acquired the land and will develop the facilities. Richardson-based Alliance Architects is designing the buildings.
Seefried expects to begin pre-bid meetings with general contractors this week and select one by March.
Completion is slated for January 2017.
