AUSTIN – With the high pace of downtown development and a new major project seemingly breaking ground each week, the Austin skyline of mid-2018 will be vastly different from what we see now.

In the past month alone, tech giant Oracle Corp. announced it will build a 560,000-sf campus in East Austin and work started on what will be Austin’s tallest building, the distinctively styled Independent.
Other projects expected to finish in the next two years that will have a big impact on the skyline: the 37-floor Fairmont Hotel and 5th & West, a condo tower on the western edge of downtown.
The average rental rate for Class A office space citywide increased to $36.70 in 4Q 2015, up 13.4 percent from the same period in 2014, and 2.16 million sf of office space was absorbed last year according to a report from Cushman & Wakefield/Oxford Commercial.
