LUBBOCK – Monsanto, one of the world’s largest sustainable agriculture companies, is expanding its local operations to include a new $140 million cottonseed processing facility.

The facility, on 150 acres along I-27, will be established as Monsanto’s primary U.S. hub for all cottonseed processing operations.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for March, and the company anticipates the facility will be operational by summer 2017.

The company is also creating 40 new full-time jobs and 15-25 part-time jobs that will operate out of the facility. Full-time positions include managers and technicians with annual average salaries of $55,000.

Once fully operational, the total value-added impact will be $11.2 million annually.
