LA PORTE – The city council gave final approval for a $55 million mixed-use development that will be anchored by a Gilley’s-themed bar, restaurant and dance venue.

Dubbed La Porte Town Center, the development will also have a 20,000-sf conference, theater and museum center, around eight restaurants, 50,000 sf of retail space, 5,000 sf of office space, 114-room hotel, mini-golf course and water park.

Developers will break ground on the project in May on 20 acres off SH 146.

The La Porte Town Center project is estimated to bring in $49.3 million in annual taxable sales. It also could create roughly 840 jobs and nearly 300 construction-related jobs. It would also raise the land value by almost $60 million.
