WILLIAMSON COUNTY – Construction at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor will include extra amenities due to the project proceeding within its $9 million budget, a county official told county commissioners.

Bob Daigh, county senior director of infrastructure, said construction of the multi-use facility is on schedule.

“This is going to be a fantastic amenity for the community,” he said. “It will provide a much-needed space for rodeos, equestrian activities, 4H and (National FFA Organization) activities that really don’t exist at this time in Williamson County.”

Gary Wilson, who works with Daigh, said there is enough money to also add three or four wash racks for horses, which commissioners approved.

In September commissioners and other officials broke ground at the 50-acre site located on Carlos Parker Blvd. in Taylor, off SH 95 and near Chandler Rd.

The Expo Center will enhance an existing rodeo arena at the site, county officials said. New construction underway includes 48,000 sf for exposition facilities, a food preparation area, meeting and gathering space, exterior show spaces and administrative offices.

Daigh said he anticipates the Expo Center opening this summer.
