Austin aims high with latest groundbreaking

​AUSTIN – The Independent luxury condo tower breaks ground January 11 at its construction site near Third St. and West Ave.

The $300 million, 58-story tower will be the tallest in the city when it’s completed in 2018. Balfour Beatty Construction is the general contractor.

The Independent is a joint venture of locally based Constructive Ventures and Aspen Heights. CIM Group of Los Angeles is a primary investor.

Rhode: Partners designed the building. Sales are being handled by Urbanspace. Engineers include Urban Design Group, Garza Bury and DCI & Lam Consulting Engineers. ​
