AUSTIN – GateHouse Media will continue to expand its
footprint in Austin in 2016, adding workers and increasing the amount of office
space it leases.

The New York-based company, one of the largest newspaper
publishers in the country, has operated its Center for News Design at the
Northview Business Center — 9001 N. I-35 in North Austin since mid-2014.

Currently GateHouse occupies 18,444 sf of office space, with
plans to add 10,534 sf of additional space, according to commercial real estate
firm CBRE.

GateHouse has about 225 Austin employees, the company said,
designing and editing 200-plus newspapers from across the country, as well as
producing online content for those publications.

By March, the company anticipates adding about 25 employees,
said David Arkin, GateHouse’s senior vice president of content and product
development.

“Additional hires could follow later in the
year,” Arkin said.
