HOUSTON – The former Waddell’s Housefurnishing Co. warehouse in East Downtown will be converted into residential units called Sampson Lofts next month.

Located on the 800 block of Sampson St., the 103-year-old property consists of two separate buildings totaling around 120,000 sf. The property is expected to accommodate 94 rental units, averaging 700 sf at about $1,050 a month.

The loading dock between the two buildings will be converted into a communal area, including a fire pit, sitting areas and a bocce ball court.

The property is owned by Caspian Enterprises’ Mir Azizi, who purchased the building from the Waddell family in 1998.

Designed by Cisneros Design Studio Architects LLC, the $15 million redevelopment is slated to take two years to complete.
