SAN ANTONIO - Convenience has become one of the most valued
amenities among renters — one that WaterWalk Hotel and Apartments is hoping to
amplify with its next mixed hotel-apartment development at the Rim. The Kansas-based company has closed on four acres at 5385 N.
Loop 1604 W. for its second San Antonio development, which will combine the
aspects of an extended-stay hotel with all-inclusive apartment units. The first WaterWalk in San Antonio is slated for the Sea
World area at 8731 Texas 151. WaterWalk will split its units between hotel and apartment
living, with travelers attracted to the larger, homier floor plans and tenants
looking for a low-maintenance lifestyle. On the apartment side, rents will include everything from
utilities, cable, washer and dryer, Internet, television service and —
depending on which package a tenant chooses — furnishings and housekeeping.
The relationship between hotel and residential
developments is becoming increasingly popular, especially since it is a way to
stand out from competing properties and possibly command higher rents. | San Antonio Business Journal
