PLANO - Denver-based ViaWest has begun construction on a new data center — its seventh data center in DFW — as part of a larger growth strategy for the company. The construction is ViaWest ninth Texas-area data center.

The new Plano data center will have more than 156,000 sf of raised floor space at build-out on 14 acres near Plano Parkway and Shiloh Rd.

Construction is slated for completion in fourth quarter 2016.

The increased demand for data centers in Dallas-Fort Worth is tied to the growing corporate base in the region with data center companies seeking to locate near their clients.

ViaWest’s Synergy Park Data Center, a 50,850-sf data center in Richardson, will also get a new cloud node to offer cloud services for local customers.

The Denver hosting and IT services company in a news release said Texas offered “attractive tax rates, a competitive regulatory environment and high job growth.”
