HOUSTON - Houston police and politicos gathered in southwest Houston on December 17 for the groundbreaking of the Houston Police Department's new substation.
The proposed 50,000-sf facility, to be located in Cambridge Village Park, will replace the current station on Beechnut.
"This HPD facility will better serve the overall Southwest Command (beats 15 and 16) stretching from the South Braeswood community to the north and to the Fort Bend Houston community to the south," Houston City Council member Larry Green said.
Construction will officially begin on the $21 million facility in February and last until July 2017, according to a press release.
