DALLAS – The North Texas industrial building boom has made the Dallas area one of the top warehouse building markets in the country this year.

Dallas ranked second only to Southern California in the volume of new speculative warehouses added to the market this year, according to a new report by Avison Young.
Developers completed 12.5 million sf of industrial space in the Dallas area this year and another 13.2 million sf is still under construction.
“The activity follows several years of strong construction activity nationally, but is not enough to satisfy demand from investors,” Avison Young’s Erik Foster said in a new report.
Nationwide speculative warehouse construction has risen 240 percent since 2012.
Along with Dallas and southern California, Chicago, Philadelphia and Atlanta are seeing warehouse-building booms.
