Microsoft data center slated on Alamo City acreage
SAN ANTONIO – Microsoft Corp. has purchased 158 acres of Texas Research Park real estate controlled by the Texas Research & Technology Foundation (TRTF).
The company plans to develop one of the largest data centers in the country at the site on the city’s far west side.
Microsoft will break ground next month on an eight-building data center development encompassing around 1.3 million sf. Construction will consist of four phases stretched out over a five-year period. The project, estimated to cost $1 billion, will create as many as 900 construction jobs.
First American Commercial Property Group brokered the deal on behalf of TRTF.
After Microsoft’s purchase, there are still roughly 450 acres available in the Texas Research Park.
