SAN ANTONIO - The Texas Military Preparedness Commission has
voted to award $5 million in grant money to help resolve critical water needs
at Joint Base San Antonio. In a package of water projects built by San Antonio Water
System, water will be brought to various military bases through infrastructure
improvements. This will provide resource security for these installations,
which currently face acute water challenges. The projects entail running water supply lines and setting
up interconnects at Camp Bullis, Lackland, Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Training
Annex, as well as making improvements to Security Hill. The projects,
which will be done over the next two years, should take water out of the
equation when it comes to decisions about the future of military missions in
San Antonio.
As the official grant applicant, Alamo Area
Council of Governments will manage the project along with San Antonio Water
System and Joint Base San Antonio. | San Antonio Business Journal
