Three fast food chains racing into Pharr

PHARR – Chick-Fil-A, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, and Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers are coming to Pharr.

The three chain restaurants will be located at the corner of South Jackson Rd. and West Kelly Ave. near At Home and Costco.

City Manager Fred Sandoval, also the CEO of the development corporation, said the three chains will bring in about $15 million in land value and improvements.

Freddy’s is slated to open September 1, 2015.

Chick-Fil-A’s plan is either to close the McAllen location when the Pharr restaurant opens or open the new store and turn the McAllen restaurant into a drive-thru only location.

Chick-Fil-A has filed paperwork with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for the $900,000 development, which is expected to begin construction in August and open in January 2016.
