DALLAS - High Street Residential, residential development subsidiary of Trammell Crow Co., in partnership with Principal Real Estate Investors, has started construction on M-Line Tower on the heels of the demolition of the Cafe Express restaurant.

Developers plan to complete M-Line Tower — a 20-story, 262-unit luxury residential and retail tower  at 3200 McKinney Ave. in 2017.

Trammell Crow Co. plans for the residential tower include about 13,000 sf of retail space on the Cafe Express property in Uptown.

Upon completion, the tower will also include a 5,548-sf Cafe Express restaurant and 1,730 sf of space for the new McKinney Avenue Transit Authority trolley barn and executive office.

As part of the deal, the developer will provide the transit authority with an allowance for a seventh trolley car, build-out allowance for the new space and new trolley tracks and a switch along Bowen St.

The luxury one- and two-bedroom apartments will include upgraded finishes with a number of community amenities, such as a resort-style pool, two-story fitness center, clubroom, outdoor living space, a business center and a rooftop sky lounge with views of the Dallas skyline.
