​TAYLOR COUNTY - Home sales in Taylor County surged 20 percent in October 2015, compared with a year before, according to statistics from the Abilene Association of Realtors.

The 155 homes purchased in October were up from 129 purchased in the same month a year ago, according to the real estate group.
Total sales volume rose from $18.6 million to $25.1 million, a 35 percent increase.

The average price of a home sold last month was $161,893, compared with $144,318 in October 2014.

Houses moved relatively quickly, with the average number of days on the market in the Multiple Listing System being 43.

As the month closed, there were 655 residences on the market, including single-family homes, town houses and condominiums.

By comparison, both Jones and Callahan counties saw slight decline​s in sales, according to the North Texas Real Estate Information Systems​. The eight sales in Jones County represent a two-sale decline. Callahan County also had two fewer sales, going from 11 to nine.
