Feeling blue? 107-Unit Bluebonnet Studios affordable housing to Austin

AUSTIN - Foundation Communities, a nonprofit developer of affordable housing, has started construction on Bluebonnet Studios at 2301 S. Lamar Blvd. near Bluebonnet Lane. 

The complex will have 107 units for low-income individuals, with rents projected to range from $400 to $675 a month with all bills paid.

The project is due to open in late 2016, said Walter Moreau, executive director of Foundation Communities.

Bluebonnet Studios will have residents with average annual incomes of $12,000 a year.

Bluebonnet Studios is among six Foundation Communities projects that are due to open during the next two years, providing affordable housing for about 1,000 residents, Moreau said.
