SAN ANTONIO - Steady demand for San Antonio-area retail
space spurred healthy activity in third quarter 2015.
New leases and expansions generated 107,193 sf of positive
net absorption led by two new Gold’s Gym locations.
Third quarter activity pushed the year-to-date total net
gain to 829,119 sf.
Since the retail development pipeline remains limited to
mainly user-driven construction, absorption translated directly into a
tightened vacancy rate.
Bulverde Crossing was the only new delivery in 3Q 2015. The
Far North center came online with a 40,000-sf Gold’s Gym and adjacent strip
center for a total of 61,768 sf of retail space.
More than 900,000 sf of multitenant retail space
is currently under construction led by the redevelopment of the former Joske’s
Building at RiverCenter Mall downtown followed by Forum Crossing.
