SAN ANTONIO – Walmart is building four 24-hour Neighborhood Markets with gas stations, according to city and state records.
Each store will cost about $6 million and span about 42,000 sf.
Introduced in the late ’90s, Walmart’s Neighborhood Market format is less than a fourth the size of a supercenter and carries a smaller selection of merchandise such as clothing and electronics. The stores include a pharmacy and employ up to 95, according to Walmart’s website.
The company has 29 stores in the area. Five are Neighborhood Markets.
The new stores are at:
- 6938 Walzem Rd. on the northeast side,
- 3847 Pleasanton Rd. on the south side,
- 9005 FM 1560 North on the far northwest side, and
- 3418 East Southcross on the southeast side.
