Abilene fetches Prairie Dog Pet Products
ABILENE – Abilene City Council unanimously approved an extra $500,000 in aid to Prairie Dog Pet Products.
The original award of $4 million from Development Corporation of Abilene — part of a $9 million total package — was an estimate for the company to renovate a building located at Five Points Business Park.
A new engineering inspection adjusted the estimate raising it to $4.5 million.
The additional $500,000 incentive requires the company to spend $76 million in Abilene within an eight-year period. The company will bring 200 jobs and hopes to start production in less than a year.
Prairie Dog Pet Products makes premium pet treats and uses 100 percent pure meats that are farm-raised and grown in the U.S.
