DALLAS – New York-based Carey Watermark Investors Inc. has acquired The Stoneleigh historic hotel in Uptown with plans to spend $4 million on upgrades.

Built in 1923, the art deco hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has gone through a number of upgrades throughout recent years, including an extensive $36 million redo in 2008.

Carey Watermark will upgrade guestrooms, corridors, pool and outdoor courtyard event space of the 176-room property.

The property includes a 8,900-sf meeting and event space, a full-service restaurant, fitness and business centers and lobby with a bar and lounge.

The Stoneleigh will continue to be managed by Merritt Hospitality, an affiliate of HEI Hotels & Resorts.
