SAN ANGELO - Baptist Retirement Community is tackling the needs of its current seniors and incoming residents by addressing the look and amenities offered at its apartments, duplexes and homes.

Established in 1951, Baptist Retirement Community comprises 100 acres and each day serves more than 400 seniors throughout the Concho Valley with offerings including independent living, skilled or long-term nursing, memory care, assisted-living, outpatient therapy and more.

Many of the community's homes — built during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s — are due for updates.

Renovations include replacing all interior and exterior doors, retexturing ceilings, gutting bathrooms to meet new health care requirements, replacing cabinets, countertops, and flooring and adding light fixtures and ceiling fans, according to the release.

Appliances, heating and cooling systems and insulation are being added with energy conservation in mind, the release states.

Landscaping is also being done, along with the addition of back porches and patio areas.
