AUSTIN – At its meeting last week, the Texas Real Estate Commission adopted contract revisions and altered education requirements.

Among the changes to education requirements:

  • The number of continuing education (CE) hours required for license renewal has increased from 15 to 18. This applies to brokers and agents.
  • The Legal Update and Ethics courses have been replaced by Legal Update I and Legal Update II. Each course counts for four hours CE.
  • The rules about who must take the Broker Responsibility course have changed. A designated broker of a business entity is no longer required to take it if the entity does not sponsor any salespeople at any time during the current license period.

Changes are effective Jan 1. For more information, including highlights of contract changes, click here.
