LEAGUE CITY – Memorial Hermann Health System’s board of directors approved the purchase of 13 acres in the same League City development where Cabela’s — a retailer of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear — will open its first Houston-area store.

Memorial Hermann will use the land in Pinnacle Park to build a nearly 47,000-sf convenient care center, the largest of its kind for the health system.

The center will be a free-standing, 24-hour emergency department that offers on-site imaging and lab services. Memorial Hermann Medical Group physicians will also offer adult and primary care services.

Construction on the center is expected to begin in summer 2016 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2017.

The approximately 100-acre development is along I-45 South at Big League Dreams Pkwy. Pinnacle Alliance bought the site in December 2013 with plans to turn it into a high-quality, mixed-use development that would include office, medical, dining, leisure, retail and multifamily/residential uses.

In October 2014, Cabela’s Inc. announced it would open its first Houston-area store in Pinnacle Park. The 72,000-sf store now is expected to open in March.

Cabela’s will be adjacent to Big League Dreams Sports Parks in the northern portion of Pinnacle Park, while Memorial Herman will be along the south boundary of the development at I-45.
