HUMBLE - A new Costco is underway at Townsen Blvd. and I-69 in Humble. The store will be approximately 150,000 sf and is estimated to be complete in first quarter 2016.

This will be the eighth Houston-area Costco. A Pearland store is expected to open in November, according to the company's website.

Costco has been expanding rapidly in the Houston area. The company opened its first location in The Woodlands last fall. Before that, Costco opened a 152,000-sf Katy-area location in early 2014 and a 157,000-sf facility in Sugar Land in summer 2013.

Its other Houston-area locations are at 3836 Richmond Ave., 1150 Bunker Hill Rd. and 12405 N. Gessner Rd.

Humble City Council approved an infrastructure agreement with Costco over the summer, but a construction timeline was not known because Costco had yet to file permits for the store, The Humble Observer reported at the time.
