ROUND TOP, WIMBERLEY - Houston-based Partners in Building has entered the second home/vacation home market with the acquisition of the Texas Casual Cottages division of Trendmaker Homes.

The division —  which specializes in building homes on customers' land in the Brazos River Valley and Hill Country — was started by Trendmaker Homes in 2010 with a location in Round Top.

The division will be rebranded Texas Casual Cottages by Partners in Building, starting with the Round Top sales center on November 20 and followed by Wimberley by year-end.

"Texas Casual Cottages gives us the opportunity to reach a new group of buyers at a lower starting price point," said Jim Lemming, president of Partners in Building.

"At the same time, it will also allow us to draw new customers and expand the reach of our Build On Your Lot program, where we build homes priced up to $1 million and more."

The cottages, which have drawn buyers of second homes from Houston and elsewhere, range from 2,000 to 3,500 sf with price tags that start around $300,000.

The Hill Country style houses are designed with raised foundations and covered porches that span the width of the house on most plans. The one- and two-story plans have open living areas and at least three bedrooms.
