SAN ANTONIO - Microsoft Corp. will be spending an estimated $34 million on the company's Westover Hills data center as the company continues to seriously look at expanding in San Antonio.

According to a construction permit filed with the state, Microsoft will put the capital toward finishing out 54,424 sf of computer server and electrical rooms.

Work is expected to start in December 2015 and take about ten months to complete.

The work is part of Microsoft's 256,000-sf data center in which the company is investing roughly $80 million. The property is next door to its 427,000-sf facility, which it opened seven years ago.

Separate from that work, Microsoft continues to show interest in 75 to 100 acres at the Texas Research Park. That site would be for an additional San Antonio data center, which has the potential to be the largest in the country.
