WACO - A lender acquired the River Square Center shopping and dining complex during a foreclosure sale on the steps of the McLennan County Courthouse.
The subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase cast the high bid of $5.3 million to take control of River Square, which is located near Franklin Ave. and University Parks Dr. in downtown Waco.
Businesses there include Spice Village, Ninfa's and Cricket's Grill restaurants.
SWB River Square Partners owned the center since 2008.
According to the property manager, Frank Cromwell, the lender likely will pursue a sale to a new owner.
