San Angelo welcomes Walmart ‘to the’ Neighborhood Market
SAN ANGELO – A new grocery store — The Walmart Neighborhood Market — is having a grand opening on November 11 at 1852 Sherwood Way.
Approximately one-fourth the size of a standard Supercenter, with a 24-hour drive-thru pharmacy, the Walmart "mini-me" is opening at Sherwood Plaza, at the former Albertsons site that has been closed since 2011.
Spokeswoman Anne Hatfield describes the small-store concept: "The Neighborhood Market concept is for convenience, rather than the stock-up, one-stop shopping of a Walmart Supercenter," she said. "We have a full grocery with fresh produce, health and beauty items, grab-and-go meals, household cleaners, a full pharmacy."
The market is adding 95 full- and part-time jobs to the workforce and still hiring, with particular interest in veterans.
