DRIPPING SPRINGS AREA - Houston-based Trendmaker Homes is set to start its first project in Austin.

The long-time home builder will build in the San Saba section of Crescent Communities’ Belterra neighborhood, according to the company’s website.

The community is located in the Dripping Springs area near Hwy. 290.

Trendmaker will build 38 homes in the community, with sales to begin in January and a grand opening slated for April, according to a statement.

The homes will feature eight floor plans, ranging from 3,400 sf to 4,200 sf.

The company also is in the process of securing additional lots for a second location in the Austin area.

"After nearly 45 years in the Houston market, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our reach in Texas," Will Holder, president of Trendmaker Homes, said in a statement.

Trendmaker Homes, a Tri Pointe Homes Inc. company, is the fifth-largest custom home builder in the Houston area.

Last year it recorded custom home gross volume of $9.69 million.
