AUSTIN - Austin Community College announced that the Texas Workforce Commission awarded the school $1.7 million to help prepare manufacturing workers at Epic Piping in San Marcos for newly created jobs.

Epic Piping — a Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based pipe fabricator — opened a new facility in San Marcos earlier this year and projects having as many as 600 employees by March 2016.

ACC’s Continuing Education Division will offer training programs on fabrication, pipefitting, welding, tacking and industrial painting to 554 of Epic’s employees.

"Our partnership with ACC is a long-term investment," said Kent Shepherd, Epic Piping president of domestic fabrication.
