Pedal away with McAllen B-Cycle
McALLEN – The city’s new bike share program, McAllen B-Cycle, has launched with a total of eight stations and 80 bikes that were funded in part by a Federal Transit Administration grant.
McAllen B-Cycle is the first bike-sharing program to launch in South Texas, and mirrors programs such as those in Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Houston and El Paso.
"We are excited to launch this new project that will provide so many great benefits to our community. McAllen B-Cycle helps promote a healthy and active lifestyle, provide an additional mobility option to users, as well as reduce traffic congestion," said Transit Director Mario Delgado.
The eight stations in McAllen are located strategically to facilitate mobility in major destination areas. Membership options range from a $6, 24-hour pass to a $65 annual pass.
