​​​​​​DALLAS – According to the just-released Standard & Poor's Case-Shiller Home Price Index, area home appreciation is one of the highest in the nation.

Dallas home prices were up 8.9 percent from a year ago. The year-over-year increase in August was the area's highest in almost six months. 

Nationally,​ prices were up 4.7 percent from August 2014 levels. The largest annual increases were in San Francisco (10.7 percent), Denver (10.7 percent) and Portland (9.4 percent)​.
