WACO - A Fuzzy's Taco Shop will anchor a development at University Parks Dr. and Franklin Ave., taking 4,000 sf on the first floor of a building that Bicycle World and Bangkok Royal restaurant now occupy.

Waco businessman Trent Weaver, who owns the 34,000-sf building, said he will place a walkway and a patio for outdoor dining on the corner of the building nearest Mary Ave. to accommodate customers of Fuzzy's Taco.

He said he likely will complete his improvements in mid-to-late spring of next year, about the time the taco shop opens.

The restaurant also will feature a roll-up door and a walk-up bar area near the walkway Weaver said he plans to install.

Weaver said he hopes to make the Fuzzy's zone an ideal complement to other improvements taking place near downtown and along Lake Brazos, which include new dining and entertainment venues, loft apartments and possibly another convention hotel.

Those additions will leave only 1,700 sf vacant on the building's first floor, between Fuzzy's and Bicycle World.

Upstairs, 17,000 sf remain untouched, and Weaver said he thinks it would prove ideal for retail or office use.
