COLLEGE STATION – Dr. Luis Torres, a research economist for the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, is in elite company. He is among 81 in the United States to be designated a Certified Business Economist (CBE).
The inaugural class was honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., recently as part of the annual meeting of the National Association of Business Economists (NABE).
The CBE was designed by leaders in the economics profession as a means to fill the gap between an academic education in economics and the skills and knowledge required for a successful career as a practitioner.
CBEs must pass a comprehensive, practical examination; be a NABE member in good standing; have two years’ work experience in applied business economics; hold a four-year degree; and complete an NABE curriculum of course work.
