AllianceTexas’ crown jewel worth multimillion-dollar expansion
FORT WORTH – Hillwood Properties has begun construction on an expansion of Fort Worth Alliance Airport, which sits within its 18,000-acre AllianceTexas development.
The multi-year construction project will extend two runways and a taxiway to 11,000 feet at the north end of the airport, which will give Fort Worth Alliance Airport greater flight capability and enable long-haul flights to take off fully fueled in any weather condition.
Construction has already begun on the site north of Fort Worth Alliance Airport, which includes moving a roadway and a rail line.
Fort Worth Alliance Airport, a public-private partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration, City of Fort Worth and Hillwood Properties, received $21.1 million from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program for the runway extension project.
Ultimately, Hillwood executives expect this expansion at the airport to boost business in Fort Worth and North Texas.
Construction is slated for completion in first quarter 2018.
